Goodbye, card catalog

Here's one of those interesting things you find while working on a new project. We're in the process of doing quality checks on a large amount of material digitized in a project involving Lyrasis and the Internet Archive. One of the things we're working on is the full run of the various UNCG alumni magazines from 1912 to the present. This week, we found this article from 1989 on the dismantling of Jackson Library's card catalog and its replacement by the new JACLIN system.

One thing I can say for sure is that most people below a certain age have absolutely no idea what the reference to "let your fingers do the walking" is all about.

We'll be publishing more of these interesting finds in the coming weeks. Let us know what you think.
